BOARD MEETING

Call to Order Floyd
Rabineau called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m.
Roll Call
Present: Floyd Rabineau, Tom Sherman (via phone), Chris Stabile, and Vicki Ulrich.
Approval of Agenda
Tom Sherman moved, supported by Floyd Rabineau to approve the agenda as written. Motion carried.
Previous Minutes
Tom Sherman moved, supported by Floyd Rabineau to approve the minutes of the September 16, 2011 Board Meeting as written. Motion carried.
Contracts
Tom Sherman moved, supported by Floyd Rabineau to approve the Sault Tribe of Bionogii Placing Agency Contract as written. Motion carried.
Tom Sherman moved, supported by Floyd Rabineau to approve the Michigan Indian Child Welfare Agency Contract as written. Motion carried.
County Budget Review
The County Budget as of September 30, 2011 was reviewed. Motion by Tom Sherman, supported by Floyd Rabineau to approve the budget. Motion carried.
County Hospitalization
None.
Chris Stabile requested that the Board approve handling any potential “last minute calls for County Hospitalization funds” via a telephone call to any Board Member for initial approval of the expenditure, given that we are at the end of the budget year. The entire Board would then vote upon the proposed expenditure at the next Board Meeting in November.
Both Board Members agreed on the record that this would be appropriate.
Calendar Review
Chris’s calendar was reviewed and it was agreed that the next meeting would be 11/04/11 at 9:00 a.m. , due to Veterans Day on November 11th and the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 24th and 25th.
County Director’s Update
• The FAP Asset Test will eliminate over 200,000 people in the State of Michigan.
• There have been 20 adjustments made to staffing, with 6 remaining positions being open in Chippewa County. Due to the recent hiring freeze, we can now only hire 5 of those six positions. We will not be hiring one additional Administrative Support position.
• The District Meeting was on October 12th, not the 19th. It will be on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, in Marquette from now on.
Board Comments
Floyd Rabineau gave a brief report on the MCSSA District Meeting that he attended in Marquette on the 12th of October. The 2010 slate of Officers has changed and a copy of the same is attached to these Minutes and will be provided to each Board Member.
Floyd should know whether or not he will be re-appointed to serve on the Board, by the 1st Monday in November. He will keep us updated.
