BUILDING, GROUNDS AND JAIL COMMITTEE
				         MEETING MINUTES

				         August 14, 2002


A special meeting of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners' Building, Grounds and Jail 
Committee was held on Wednesday, August 15, 2002 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. 
Marie, Michigan.  Chairman Kay called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. with a quorum present.


MEMBERS PRESENT: Earl Kay, Chairman, Don Cooper and Rita Dale

MEMBERS ABSENT:	 None

OTHERS PRESENT:	 Kelly Beaune, Assistant to the Controller, Randy McGahey, McGahey Construction

Additions / Deletions to the Agenda
Chairman Kay called for additions or deletions to the agenda.  Hearing none, the agenda was declared 
approved as amended.

Public Comment
There were no public comments.

Agenda Item: Animal Shelter Facility
Chairman Kay citied the purpose of this meeting was to meet with Randy McGahey of McGahey
Construction to review the site plan developed by Northwoods Land Surveying.  

Commissioner Kay brought up the need of soil borings; discussion ensued.  Mr. McGahey did not feel 
these borings were necessary for such a small building.  Without the soil borings the County could save at 
least $4,000.

The Committee discussed various other constructional requirements.  

Chairman Kay suggested an on site visit to the property where the proposed shelter will be constructed.

Hearing no other comments, Chairman Kay declared the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
