EQUALIZATION AND APPORTIONMENT COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

April 6, 2004

A regular meeting of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners Equalization and Apportionment Committee was held on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Chairman Jim Moore called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with a quorum present.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Jim Moore, Chairman, Rita Dale, and Don Cooper

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

OTHERS PRESENT: Tim Dolehanty, County Controller, Sharon Kennedy, Register of Deeds / Equalization Director, Ron Cross, Appraiser

Approval of the Agenda

Chairman Moore called for changes to the agenda. No changes were offered.

It was moved by Commissioner Dale, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, to approve the agenda as presented. On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.

Public Comments

There were no public comments.

Agenda Items: 2004 Equalization Report

Register of Deeds / Equalization Director Sharon Kennedy presented the draft 2004 Equalization Report. She discussed various trends noted in the report. Ms. Kennedy also noted that the value of land in the County now exceed $1 billion.

It was moved by Commissioner Dale, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, to recommend approval of the 2004 Equalization Report as presented. On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.

Tentative 2004 Taxable Values

Ms. Kennedy reviewed the tentative taxable value information included in the Equalization Report. She discussed implications of the identified trends.
