COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
A special meeting of the Chippewa County Board of
Commissioners’ Finance, Claims and Accounts Committee was held on Wednesday,
April 28, 2004 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan. Chairperson Dale called
the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with a quorum present.

Additions / Deletions to the
Agenda
Chairperson Dale called for additions or deletions to
the agenda.
It was moved by Commissioner Hopper, seconded by Commissioner Timmer, to approve the agenda as presented. On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.
Agenda Item: Review of 2004 Budget
County Controller Tim Dolehanty reviewed the functional
areas of the budget and the classification of earmarked and undesignated
revenue. He then presented budget
projections for each functional area based on first quarter receipts and
expenditure patterns. Mr. Dolehanty
concluded that projections suggest expenditures will now exceed revenue in 2004
by $512,326. He went on to review
33 proposed budget adjustments for
consideration, and cautioned the Committee about potential unknown expenses
associated with health insurance rates, City/County Building expenses, and the
impact of a recent tax tribunal.
The Committee discussed a number of ideas to reduce
spending. It was agreed that a
meeting should be held with department heads to develop an expenditure reduction
plan.

It was moved
by Commissioner Postula, seconded by Commissioner Timmer, to adjourn the
meeting. On a voice vote, the
motion was CARRIED.
Chairperson Dale declared the meeting adjourned at 7:00
p.m.
