Ann Bellow, American Lung Association, Robin Lechner, restaurant owner, Maxine Anderson, Rick Haverkate, Deana Knauf, Tribal Council of Michigan, Joseph Trombley, EUP Asthma Coalition, Tracy Holt, War Memorial Hospital addressed the County Board of Commissioners each giving their reasons why the County Board should adopt the proposed Chippewa County Clean Air ordinance.
Chairman Kay read letters from Mary Beth Skupien, Sault Tribe Health Services, Bill Goetz, R.J. Wallis Elementary School Principal, Don Sawruk, Edison Sault Electric Company President, and Richard Hill, Whitefish Bay Furniture owner and Janet Olszewski, Director of Community Health for the State of Michigan, all encouraging the County Board to adopt the proposed Clean Air Ordinance.
A letter was received from Richard Rathke stating the ordinance should be put to a vote of the residents.
Julie Joseph Barber, Co-Chair of the Chippewa County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and Mary Sue Peterson, American Cancer Society spoke in favor the proposed ordinance.
Julie Timmer, thought it should be up to the bar and restaurant owners to impose their own restrictions.
Commissioner Hopper thanked everyone who participated at the Public Hearing.
