BUILDING, GROUNDS AND JAIL COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

July 13, 2005

 

A regular meeting of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners’ Building, Grounds and Jail Committee was held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  Chairperson Kay called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. with a quorum present.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:                          Earl Kay, Dick Timmer, Ted Postula

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:                            None

 

OTHERS PRESENT:                             Judge Lowell Ulrich, and Kelly Beaune, Recorder

 

Additions / Deletions to the Agenda

Chairman Kay called for additions or deletions to the agenda.  Hearing none, he declared the agenda approved as presented.

 

Public Comments

Chairman Kay called for pubic comments.  No public comments were offered.

 

Agenda Items: Security Issues

The Committee discussed security issues, specifically Probate Court issues, the three topics 1) Building security and access, have all doors locked except for one that would have personnel with a metal detector; 2) a rope ladder for the Judge’s second floor windows and being able to open the windows high enough to use that route of leaving the building if necessary; and 3) having the barred windows redone so that employees have a way out if their doors were inaccessible.

 

It was moved by Commissioner Timmer, supported by Commissioner Postula, to get prices on the security, window ladder and barred window releases.  On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.

 

Committee and Chairperson’s Comments

 No additional comments were offered by the Committee or the Chair.

 

Adjourn

It was moved by Commissioner Timmer, seconded by Commissioner Postula, to adjourn the meeting.  On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.

 

Chairman Kay declared the meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
