BUILDING, GROUNDS AND JAIL COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

 

August 29, 2006

 

A regular meeting of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners’ Building, Grounds and Jail Committee was held on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  Chairperson Kay called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with a quorum present.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:                          Earl Kay and Dick Timmer

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:                            Ted Postula

 

OTHERS PRESENT:                             Tony Bosbous, Clayton McGahey, Tom Beaudry, Spencer Nebel. Attorney Steve Cannello and Kelly Beaune, Recorder

 

Additions / Deletions to the Agenda

Chairman Kay called for additions or deletions to the agenda.

 

It was moved by Commissioner Timmer, supported by Commissioner Kay, to approve the agenda as presented.  On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.

 

Public Comments

Chairman Kay called for pubic comments.  No public comments were offered.

 

Agenda Items: City/County Building

The Committee met with members of the City of Sault Ste. Marie Commissioners and City Manager Nebel for follow-up discussion from previous meeting held on August 22, 2006.  Several discussions ensued regarding possible sale of the City/County Building, the City’s support of the proposed expansion with a possible final determination made by the City Commission on the sale by February 2007.  Updating the appraisals and/or values of both the City/County Building and the Courthouse Annex were discussed, with both parties going to go back to their respective departments, to seek updated values.

 

Committee and Chairperson’s Comments

No additional comments were offered by the Committee or the Chair.

 

Adjourn

It was moved by Commissioner Postula, seconded by Commissioner Timmer, to adjourn the meeting.  On a voice vote, the motion was CARRIED.

 

 

Chairman Kay declared the meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
