MEETING MINUTES
A
regular meeting of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners’ Legislative and
Natural Resources Committee was held on

Chairman Timmer called for additions or deletions to
the agenda. It was moved by Commissioner Kay, seconded by Commissioner Shackleton
to approve the agenda as presented.
On a voice vote, the motion
carried.
Chairman Timmer called for public comments. No public comments were offered.
The
Soil and Sedimentation Permit process has become a problem area in the Building
Inspection Office, it was previously discussed to check with the Conservation
District to see if there was any interest in transferring the program
over. Preliminary conversations have
been held with the County, Department of Environmental Quality and the
Conservation District. At this time the
Conservation District is ready to officially ready to set up and work plan and
a fee chart to start processing the Soil and Sedimentation permit. Discussion among the Committee included
staffing needs, education, training, enforcement, basic pros and cons to
transferring the program. The
Conservation District feels the program could be run to the benefit of the
County, District and the landowners seeking the permits.
It was moved by Commissioner
Shackleton, supported by Commissioner Kay, to proceed with the transferring of
the Soil and Sedimentation permit process to the Conservation District with a
three year review. On a voice vote the
motion CARRIED.
Building Inspection
Department – Fee Schedule
The
Committee discussed the proposed building fee permit increases, questions were
answered by Jay Predmore from the Department.
Trends, economy, revenue shortfall and comparisons were all discussed.
It was moved by Commissioner
Shackleton, supported by Commissioner Kay, to approve the changes to the
Animal Control Shelter – Fee
Schedule
The
proposed additional and increased fees for the Chippewa County Animal Control
Shelter were discussed. With changes made
to the non-licensed dogs running at large after March 1st. See attached fee schedule.
It was moved by Commissioner
Kay, supported by Commissioner Shackleton, to approve the changes to the
Committee and/or Chairman

by Commissioner Shackleton, moved to adjourn the meeting. On a voice vote the motion CARRIED.
