Soil and Sedimentation Program

The Soil and Sedimentation Program transfer was discussed, both the Legislative Committee and the Chippewa Soil Conservation District agreed that Soil Conservation group has better expertise in regards to the soil and sedimentation program.  The Conservation District presented a tentative fees chart to be addressed first by the Soil Conservation Board and then to be forwarded to the County Board of Commissioners at the regular May meeting.  The fees were based on the rates of areas in the Upper Peninsula.  A date has not yet been set to transfer the program, the Legislative Committee was hoping for a date as early as May 2006 and the Conservation District was looking at October 2006.  The Conservation District should be able to give a date at the same time they recommend the fees to be approved by the Board of Commissioners.  The tentative fees are $100.00 for residential and $200 for commercial, plus mileage.   Currently the fees are $10.00 for residential and $$50.00/acre for commercial plus mileage.

(The fee comparison is attached.)
