WORK SESSION MEETING MINUTES

 

April 12, 2006

 

 

A work session of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners was held on Wednesday, April 12, 20065 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Chairman Kay called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. with a quorum present.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:         Earl Kay, Bernie LaJoie, Dick Timmer, Jim Moore, Don Cooper and Ted Postula (4:10 pm)

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:           None

 

OTHERS PRESENT:             Robert Savoie, Mary Sue Short, Sharon Kennedy, Brian Peppler, Marilyn McDonald, Kelly Beaune, Recorder

 

Agenda Item: County Issues

The committee met to discuss County issues including the County Administrator position, space needs, office maintenance and any other issues the department heads may have.  Chairman Kay started the meeting by thanking the elected officials; department heads and their staff for the hard work given to the County regarding specifically the FY2005 budget year, as indications show the Counties expenditures were down.   Those present in the audience all were given a chance to discuss the Administrator position, storage, maintenance and cleaning issues; the Commissioners received nine letters from Marilyn McDonald, Hon. Lowell Ulrich and Susan Short, Tim McKee, James Shogren, Diane Cork, Brian Peppler, Sharon Kennedy, Circuit Court and Hon. Michael MacDonald giving the Board feedback regarding the issues mentioned above.   Discussion between the Commissioners and the Department Heads proceeded during the meeting.  The Commission again reviewed the Administrator position discussing the previous process used during the interviews, the job description and finding the right person for the job. It was also suggested that the Board get together more often with the Elected Officials/Judges/Department Heads.  This was a work session with the County Board of Commissioners with no action items
