BUDGET HEARING MEETING

 

October 9, 2007

 

 

A Budget Hearing of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners was held on October 9, 2007 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Chairman Kay called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. with a quorum present.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:         Richard Timmer, Earl Kay, Jim Moore, and Bernie LaJoie

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:           Ted Postula, Scott Shackleton and Don Cooper

 

OTHERS PRESENT:             Jenny Lipponen, Brian Bartlett, Chuck McCready, Sharon Kennedy and Kelly Beaune, Recorder

 

Budget Hearings

Hearings regarding 2008 Budget requests from Information Systems, Equalization, Animal Control, Building Department and Bailiff. Topics included the increase in line item 885; due to the proposed purchase of a Manatron web-based tax package and the request to complete parcel mapping for Bay Mills, DeTour, Raber and Trout Lake Townships.  Line 174-730 is showing an increase in support costs so that 50th Circuit Court can switch to JIS from JMS.  The Register of Deeds and Equalization Department FY08 requests were discussed with no major increases requested. 

 

The Committee also discussed the 35 vs. 40 hour work week, along with the 1 ½ hour lunches and the lack of time clocks; the MERS multiplier for union and non-union to be equal that of the Sheriff’s Department and the vehicles that are being requested in the FY08 budget request.
