BUDGET HEARING MEETING

 

October 16, 2007

 

 

A Budget Hearing of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners was held on October 9, 2007 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Chairman Kay called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. with a quorum present.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:         Richard Timmer, Earl Kay, Jim Moore, Ted Postula, Scott Shackleton, Don Cooper and Bernie LaJoie

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:           None

 

OTHERS PRESENT:             Jeri Lou Wolski, Marsha Teysen, Marilyn McDonald, Sheriff Jeff Moran, Brian Peppler, Jim Lucas and Kelly Beaune, Recorder

 

Budget Hearings

Hearings regarding 2008 Budget requests from Circuit Court; Prosecuting Attorney, MSU Co-op Extension; Treasurer and Sheriff’s Department.  Topics discussed including Air conditioning in the individual offices, the Circuit Court request to switch from JMS to JIS.  The Prosecutor’s office discussed the needs of the office including 40 hours for his Union staff members, an additional Assistant Prosecutor, security glass and carpeting. 

The Treasurer FY08 budget remains the same with no major increases; also discussed was the DTRF, Interest Income, Revenue Sharing, funding retiree’s health care and bonding issues.  MSU Co-op Extension is requesting the County budget the full $28,000 for the 4-H agent, as well as, an increase in travel.  The Committee also discussed budgeting for the 4-H participants youth fees.    The Sheriff’s FY08 budget requests were discussed with discussion including the school liaison officer, MiDeal, and vehicle needs.

 

The Committee also discussed the agencies FY08 requests.
