BUDGET WORKSHOP MEETING

November 20, 2007

A Budget Workshop of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners was held on November 20, 2007 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Chairman Kay called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. with a quorum present.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Richard Timmer, Earl Kay, Jim Moore, Ted Postula, Scott Shackleton, Don Cooper and Bernie LaJoie

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

OTHERS PRESENT: Kelly Beaune, Recorder

Budget FY2008

The Committee met to go over the proposed FY2008 General Fund Budget; starting with the revenue portion of the budget, line item increases and decreases were discussed. The expenses by department including benefits were reviewed by department, with discussion throughout the review. During the review the Commissioners made suggestions to balance the FY08 Budget. The items discussed for change were: Computer-Support (174-730), an itemized listing will be requested; reimbursements (191-718) will be changes to revenue; removal of Supplies (275-727); the Surveyor budget was discussed (Mr. Karr will attend the February 08 Finance meeting, for an update); Vehicles – gas/oil (301-742); SANE (310-071); Health Board (610-710); Senior Nutrition (748-701); Insurance (865-701); Computer (885-701); Contingencies (890-701); PILT Funds – Twps. (972-701); and the vehicles line item.

An updated General Fund Budget will be forwarded to the Finance Committee at the December meeting.
