WORK SESSION MEETING MINUTES

September 17, 2007

A work session of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners was held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Chairman Kay called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. with a quorum present.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Earl Kay, Bernie LaJoie, Jim Moore, Don Cooper, and Richard Timmer

MEMBERS ABSENT: Scott Shackleton and Ted Postula

OTHERS PRESENT: Tim McGuire, Tom Hickson with Michigan Association of Counties; Derek Myerscough and Kelly Beaune, Recorder

Agenda Item: Michigan Association of Counties

Michigan Association of Counties representatives Tim McGuire and Tom Hickson were here to update the Commission on what MAC has been doing and to also visit Kewadin Hotel & Conference Center for possible future MAC Conferences. Discussion regarding Legislative updates covered SB 411/411; the State of Michigan’s FY08 Budget shortfalls, as well as, the possibilities of increased sales and income taxes to correct the budget. General discussion followed on these topics.
