Filing fee is $150.00 IF NO ESTATE IS PENDING.

Filing fee is $20 IF FILED AFTER ESTATE IS OPENED. Probate Court can accept cash, money order or check payable to the Chippewa County Probate Court.

An interested person may petition the court to determine the decedent's date of death, domicile at time of death, testacy of decedent, and decedent's heirs without opening an estate or appointing a personal representative.

A hearing is scheduled and notice is sent to all heirs of the decedent listed on the sworn testimony form. A Proof of Service that all heirs listed on the sworn testimony form were properly noticed is filed with the court prior to the court hearing.
