Central Dispatch Information

Central Dispatch is charged with the following primary tasks:

  • Answer all 911 and non-emergency calls within Chippewa County
  • Dispatch police, fire and ambulance services
  • Provide an after-hours answering point for Human Services and Public works

When Calling 911

The dispatcher will ask for the following information. Please have this ready.

  • The location where help is needed
  • The phone number you are calling from
  • Nature of complaint
  • Your name

EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch)

The telecommunicator may ask questions to determine what kind of assistance to provide. The answers to these questions will help us better assess you or those in need.

All dispatch personnel are EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) certified and are able to provide “pre-arrival instructions” to callers on everything from infant CPR to managing a seizure patient.

Emergency Management:

Emergency Management is responsible for emergency planning and coordination across the county as well as collaborating with neighboring counties, the State of Michigan and the Federal Government. This office holds reoccurring LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) and LEPT (Local Emergency Planning Team) meetings through out the year. Chippewa County Central Dispatch and the Office of Emergency Management work closely together through all emergencies. Both offices are located in the same building and are in constant contact when emergency events kick off.
